“Now we probably don’t even have a future anymore, because that future was sold so that a small number of people could make unimaginable amounts of money” -Greta Thunberg, 16-year-old Climate Activist.
It is clear that young people know there is an urgent need to make radical changes to avert a climate emergency and it is important that we should all support and applaud the courage they have shown in organizing these school strikes. Young people should have a voice.
It is a sobering thought that anyone under 30 may not have a future if urgent action is not taken about climate change. As adults, we have a duty and responsibility to wholeheartedly support their fight for change- if we don’t, what kind of a future are we leaving them. We are stronger together. By standing in solidarity with the Youth strikes, we send a clear message that we want to look after our children’s and grandchildren’s future and to preserve this beautiful planet with its wealth of diverse species /ecosystem.
Our house is on fire. Time is running out.
