Inspired by Extinction Rebellions actions nationally, a few passionate people came together to form a group locally in Norwich. This group is continuing to grow full of passion, dedication and love for the world around us. As a low lying coastal county with a growing population, Norfolk is particularly vulnerable to climate change. Higher sea levels, heat-waves, droughts and storms are more likely to take place as average global temperatures rise. Recent flooding events in Norfolk have highlighted how real this issue is. Our government is not doing nearly enough to protect us from disaster. We want to raise awareness of this and encourage people to take action.
Extinction Rebellions demands
Tell the truth: Government must tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency, working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change.
Act Now: Government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.
Beyond Politics: Government must create and be led by the decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.
