Today the University of East Anglia added their names to a growing list of English Universities acknowledging and declaring a 'climate emergency'.
The UEA & NUA extinction rebellion group have done an amazing job over the past 6 months prompting the University to finally step up and accept action and change is needed. This declaration may not be the solution to the current crisis but it sure is a step in the right direction. In a world of failing green policies stagnated by greed, fear, denial and apathy, these small local steps should be celebrated as huge mile stones. Today is testimony to the dedication, passion and love the student and lecturer members have shown for the future of this planet and its species. There is still a lot of work to be done with new events and actions being planned every week. Please take some time to visit their Facebook group, keep track of their progress and get involved with local actions where you can. 'The decision to declare a climate and biodiversity emergency follows a motion tabled at UEA Assembly on 22 May by Dr Hannah Hoechner, on behalf of Extinction Rebellion UEA.' Well done Hannah and well done UEA ! https://www.facebook.com/XRUEA/
