Many of XR Norwich were lucky enough to travel to London for the International Rebellion and witness history in the making. Many days spent talking to the public, dancing to disco and watching a community blossom on the carless streets of the capital. It was a life changing couple of weeks in so many ways, filled with joy, passion and optimism. So many experiences to share with you but here is one by our local member Andrew. There was something very special and very spiritual about the Rebellion. It moved us, the police, the public, everyone. Love was its meaning. We smiled, and hugged each other. Passersby cheered and applauded and engaged with us. Police officers danced with us...and then arrested over a thousand of us. We went willingly, peacefully and to chants of "we love you!". There was no hatred, no violence, no drugs, no alcohol. In this extraordinary movement of so many grounded and spiritual women - non-violence, love, kindness, empathy, humility, creativity, imagination, music, dance, singing, hugging, and smiling - were our great strengths. For all of us, life will never be the same again. The friendships forged in those heady spring days will be lifelong. We joined together in love and peace for our beautiful mother earth, and took the first step towards rescuing her from climate catastrophe.
