Our Outreach group did a wonderful job organising four stalls at separate locations last weekend.
On Saturday morning members arrived early, equipped with homemade banners, flags, posters and and bunting, to set up stalls at both 'One Planet Norwich Festival' and 'The Quakers Earth Fair'. One Planet Festival filled the Forum with environmentally conscious stalls and innovative ideas. People walked leisurely around engaging in conversations and enjoying the goodies on display. The XR Norwich stall was beautifully vibrant and many people came over to talk to us about signing up, attending meetings and to express excitement at the up coming Critical Mass Bike Ride. It was heartening that many simply came over to say 'well done' and to 'keep up the good work'. We also offered a creative activity for children which was warmly received by lots of smiley very knowledgeable kids. At The Quakers Earth Fair it was a similar positive experience, many great conversations and a general warmth towards Extinction Rebellions presence in Norwich. On Sunday morning it was time for the 'Vegan Festival'. Fresh faces volunteered their time to set up, man the stall and have nice conversations with people about Extinction Rebellion. Again it was beautifully decorated with flags, posters and banners. While the events previously mentioned sheltered inside all weekend, the brave folk at the Eastern Permaculture Gathering faced the weekends downpours under gazebos and tents. Despite the rain, it sounds like everyone had a great time and it was a successful outreach event. Best quote of the weekend - " as a permaculturist , if your neighbours don't think you're a bit weird - you're not doing it right " Our Chris Keene also did the 'heading for Extinction talk' to a group at the gathering. Well done Chris ! It was a really positive and encouraging weekend ! Thanks to all that made it possible and I predict more exciting outreach events this summer To see the pictures from the events please visit our gallery.
